Last year, “Learn IT, Girl” had 118 amazing pairs accepted. Women from around the globe worked on learning 10 different programming languages and published their apps on their GitHub repositories. You can read some success stories in this blog and check some projects on our website.
Applications for the second edition opened a couple of weeks ago and we are excited about the big number of mentee applications we are receiving. However, we will be limited by the number of mentors who apply to accept mentees into the program. This is why this year we want to encourage you to apply as a mentor. Anyone with programming experience can apply to become a mentor.
We are welcoming everyone as a mentor because we want everyone to work together on lowering the gender gap. Mentoring is also an amazing learning experience. Remember when you first started programming? How exciting it was to start creating your own interactive projects from scratch? Wouldn’t it be great to help a girl build the same great things?
Applications will be open until January 18 and we encourage all of you to participate in this great experience! Don’t forget to join our Facebook group and follow us on Twitter in the meantime to stay connected. If you have any questions, you can always contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for making “Learn IT, Girl” an amazing project.
